Meet the San Francisco Team Behind Latch and Post Gate Repair San Francisco

Every gate in this city has its own story. Some fight the fog with rust, others battle shifting soil on steep hillsides, and plenty just need a latch that finally lines up right. The crew at Latch and Post Gate Repair San Francisco knows these stories well. We’re a small team of San Francisco technicians who show up in uniform, put down drop cloths before we step inside, and treat your gate like it’s attached to our own home. Since 2009, we’ve been part of the Cedarwell family of independently owned and operated gate specialists, and the people below are the ones who actually do the work.

Our People

Cody Beckman, Owner

Cody Beckman founded the San Francisco location in 2009 and still runs jobs himself most weeks. He’s the one who walks the property, points to the post that’s shifted, and explains in plain English what it’ll take to fix it, no jargon and no pressure. Cody is factory-trained on LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule operators, which means he’s seen just about every way a gate motor can fail after a few damp San Francisco winters. He’s known for a dry observation or two on site, like noting that a motor ignored for four fog seasons has a lot of feelings to work through, but he always lands back on the practical detail that gets your gate working. Every quote from Cody comes in writing before any work starts, and if it’s not done right, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means he makes it right.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been fixing gates in San Francisco for over a decade, most of that time right here with Latch and Post. He specializes in electric gate repair, particularly the wiring and control boards on LiftMaster and DoorKing systems, which are everywhere in the Sunset and Richmond districts. Marcus is the guy who shows up at 11 p.m. when a gate won’t close and a car can’t get in, and he’s the one who takes the extra five minutes to explain what caused the failure so it doesn’t happen again next month. Outside of work, he rebuilds vintage motorcycles in a garage out in the Excelsior, which is probably why he’s so patient with stubborn mechanical problems. Marcus is background-checked, uniformed, and quietly proud of never leaving a job site without a photo of the clean-up.

Dana R., Senior Installer

Dana leads most of our gate installation projects across San Francisco, from Noe Valley courtyard gates to driveway gates in St. Francis Wood. She’s been installing and hanging gates for eight years and is the one who obsesses over the reveal, the gap you see between the gate and the post when it’s closed. If it’s not even, Dana’s not done. She handles a lot of our Viking and Ghost Controls installations, and she’s the team member most likely to suggest a design detail that makes the gate function better in San Francisco’s specific conditions, like extra clearance for the way hillside homes settle over time. Dana has two kids and a very opinionated cat, and she’s exactly the person you want measuring twice before anything gets bolted in. Shoe covers and drop cloths are non-negotiable on her jobs, and she’ll ask before she moves anything in your yard.

Priya S., Service Coordinator

Priya is the voice on the phone when you call (628) 227-2771, and she’s usually the reason a technician lands at your house with the right parts on the first visit. She’s been coordinating service calls in San Francisco for six years and has a mental map of every neighborhood, which means she knows a gate in the Marina will have different corrosion issues than a gate in Glen Park. Priya keeps the schedule moving, arranges the free estimates, and makes sure you get a written price before any work begins. She’s also the one who remembers that your dog is skittish around new people or that your baby naps at 1 p.m., and she’ll note it on the dispatch so the technician knows before they arrive. If you call at midnight, Priya or one of her colleagues answers live, no voicemail and no callback queue. She bakes excellent sourdough, which the crew strongly encourages.

One Standard, Every Job

The San Francisco team works to one set of rules, and they’re the Cedarwell C.A.R.E. values: Clean up like it’s our own home, Ask before we move or touch anything, Respect your family’s time and quiet hours, and Explain the price before the work. That means drop cloths go down and shoe covers go on before any technician steps inside. It means quiet tools when kids are asleep and pet-safe lubricants where there’s a choice. It means a written price handed over before a single bolt comes off, with no pressure to accept it. And it means a photo of the clean-up before we leave, every single visit. Every gate comes down to two parts, the latch that holds it and the post that carries it. That’s the job we focus on in San Francisco, and that’s how every person on this page does it.
